Five Ways to Classify of Vocal Sound

The sounds of singing can be classified in five (5) ways:
1. fundamental frequency (pitch),
2. duration (rhythm),
3. intensity/amplitude (musical dynamic from pianissimo to fortissimo),
4. timbre (combination of both the vowels of language and the unique voice); and finally,
5. sonance (the consonance of language, other sounds unique to the voice, and rate of vibrato or lack thereof).
